Writing a job listing that gets applicants
Foreign candidates decide in seconds, and so do search engines. These are the parts of a listing that make the difference. The app checks the essentials before it lets you publish.
The title
Say what the job is, in the words a candidate would search for: “Primary English Teacher”, “Front-end Developer (React)”, “Hotel Guest Relations Manager”. Leave out salary, dates and codes — they have their own fields.
The city
Choose the city where the work happens. It decides which city page the listing appears on, and which searches find it.
The pay
Give a figure or a range, and the period (monthly, hourly, per class). Listings with pay get more applicants and show it in search results. If you would rather not publish it, switch Show salary publicly off: invited applicants still see it, and it is left out of salary filters and statistics. “Negotiable” is also accepted.
The visa answer
Say whether you sponsor the work permit and Z visa. It is the first thing a candidate abroad looks for, and a listing cannot be published without a yes or no. The candidate-side steps are explained in our Z visa guide.
The description
At least 200 characters, written for a stranger: what the work is day to day, who you are looking for, the schedule, the contract length and what you provide. Plain paragraphs read best.
Contact details go on the Contact screen
Do not type phone numbers, email addresses, WeChat IDs or QR codes into the title, description, tags or company profile — the app will ask you to remove them, and anything already there is hidden from readers. On the Contact screen, your details are safe:
- they are never printed on the website or shown to anyone who is not signed in;
- with Show contact details publicly on, signed-in job seekers can ask to see them — a limited number per person per day, each one recorded;
- with it off, people apply in the app and you reply in the chat after inviting them.
Privacy settings
- Show company name publicly — off makes the listing confidential: “Confidential employer” until you invite someone, and your company page does not list it.
- Listing is public — off keeps the listing out of search and the job lists; only people with the link can open it.
- Candidate search tags — up to 20 words people might search for, such as “IELTS” or “kindergarten”.
How long it runs
A listing stays up for 60 days and you get an email a week before it ends. Renew it with one tap, or set an Expiration date to close it earlier. When the role is filled, close it — search engines demote sites that keep filled jobs up. Auto-close when filled does that for you once you have invited as many applicants as the listing has vacancies.
Photos
Add photos of the workplace to your company profile; they appear on your company page. Photos with QR codes are not accepted.
